Salesforce Lightning For Outlook Mac Download

One of the great features of Salesforce Classic is its ability to send emails using Outlook, Gmail and MacMail from inside a Salesforce record by just clicking on the email address field. One click and the user’s email editor opens up in a pop-up window. Once the email is sent, the popup window disappears. The Classic email composer is intuitive and productive.

Salesforce today the general availability of Lightning for Outlook add-in to all Salesforce customers with the necessary licenses. This add-in is supported in Outlook 2013 for Windows, Outlook 2016 for Windows, Outlook 2016 for Mac or Outlook on the web with either Office 365, Exchange 2013 or Exchange 2016 mailboxes.

1. Lightning sync for Outlook used to work with bi directional sync in salesforce classic before the latest realase. Now, there is no provided solution to sync events with outlook for mac. It's very frustrating as it worked fine with classic and functionality was removed for no reason.
2. If your organization has Mac users, uses OWA frequently, or would like to be able to edit Salesforce records right from your email, you might instead look to Lightning for Outlook. There are nuances in functionality between the two, so there may even be a reason to run both with in your organization, with your service department running SFO.

Then came Lightning. It changed just about everything. Some for the better and some for the worse. One thing that Lightning changed was the way that email address fields work by default. With Lightning, a click on the email address field launches the new Lightning email message composer. Many people, especially Classic users, don’t want to use the new Email Message editor and they are frustrated. With the default Lightning setting, sending an email using Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail or SUPERHUMAN requires the user to leave Salesforce and open a separate email composer window.

This new Lightning functionality really bugged the developers at Match My Email, because it resulted in a lot of unhappy customers who didn’t want to be forced to use the Salesforce Email Message object when clicking on an email address field. Users don’t see the value added of the new Email Message object especially if they hadn’t opted for Einstein, which is super expensive.

Finding a solution to this problem wasn’t easy. Our developers didn’t realize that Salesforce Help used the terms ‘email composer’, ‘email editor’ and ‘default email application’ interchangeably to describe the functionality. It is one of those things that is really hard to figure out if you don’t know what key words to search for on Salesforce help and in the community bulletin boards. Fortunately, early Monday morning while working on something else, one of our developers in New Zealand found a configuration button in Personal Settings under Email that solved the issue. To configure Salesforce to use your regular email client when clicking on an email address field follow the steps below:

1. Click on View Profile [the round icon on the far upper right of the screen]
2. Then click on Settings in the drop-down
3. Then Email on the left control panel
4. After opening the Email drop-down, click My Email Settings
5. Then go down the screen to the fifth item “When you click an email address to compose an email, which email editor do you want to use?”
6. Then click the second option “Default Email Application”
7. Save

Select the link for the LinkPoint Connect installer provided in the welcome email, or enter the URL in your browser address bar and press enter.

Save the file named LinkPointConnectSF.exe to your computer and then open it to launch the Installer.

Click Next within the LinkPoint Connect for Salesforce – InstallShield Wizard to start the installation process.

Select the I accept the terms in the license agreement option, and then click the Next button to proceed.

Confirm that Microsoft Outlook is closed and click the Next button.

Select the installation preferences within the Custom Setup screen. By default, the Installer will place the LinkPoint Connect software on the system hard drive. Click Next to continue.

Tip: LinkPoint Connect relies on a common Microsoft technology called .NET Framework 4 Client Profile which comes pre-loaded on Windows 7 and above. If your computer does not already have this installed, it will automatically be downloaded as part of the LinkPoint Connect installation process.
